Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to list my land or hunt?

Signing up for Browtine and listing your property is completely free.

What is required of hunters before booking?

We ask everyone who uses Browtine for a few pieces of information before they book with us. Hunters need to have this info completely filled out before they can make a reservation request. This info helps make sure you know who to expect, and how to contact the hunter.

Browtine’s requirements for hunters include:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Confirmed phone number
  • Agreement to your House Rules
  • Payment information

Hunters are expected, but not required, to have a profile picture. You may also require guests to provide ID before booking your lease.

How to upgrade my hunt to featured?

From your listing, select the “upgrade to featured” option on the dashboard.

What is a featured hunt?

A featured hunt will rank higher when hunters are searching for hunts and thus improve your purchase success rate.

How should I choose my listing’s price?

The price you charge for your listing is completely up to you. To help you decide, you can search for comparable leases in your city or state to get an idea of market prices. Choose the pricing system that works for you.  You can either list a hunt as a package (lump sum) and specify the date range, or you can set a daily/weekly rate and let hunters choose their dates.

Additional Fees

  • Transportation fee: You can either incorporate a fee like picking hunters up from the airport into your daily price or you can add a transportation fee in your pricing settings that they can select.
  • Other fees: To charge extra fees outside of your rates (like gun rentals or trophy fee), you must first disclose these potential charges to hunters prior to booking and then use our secure payment portal for additional fees.

Who can lease their property on Browtine?

It’s easy to list your property on Browtine, and it’s always free to create a listing.  In order to list a hunt you must upload proof of hunting right if it is private property (i.e. lease, deed, tax bill, etc…).  If you are an outfitter and the hunt takes place on private property you must upload any certifications you have with the state or proof of operations.

How to get in touch with my guests?

If you want to ask questions or set expectations before a stay, you can get to know hunters in advance using our secure messaging tool.

How do I figure out how much I’ll get paid?

The payout you’ll receive is your rate minus the host service fee.

Hunters pay a service fee to Browtine in addition to the cost of your listing, which is why the total price hunters see is higher than your payout.

How do taxes work for hosts?

You’ll want to check with your local government about whether or not taxes need to be collected from hunters. If you determine that you need to collect a tax, you can add it as an option before booking. It’s important that guests are informed of the exact tax amount prior to booking.

In some locations, Browtine hosts may have a collect and remit feature available to handle occupancy tax. Hosts should not collect occupancy taxes separately for those jurisdictions.

Also, in some locations, Value Added Tax (VAT) may apply.
